Seven of the latest deaths were in Punjab, where heavy rain also left 20 injured, and the Met Office expects further heavy falls over Islamabad and Kashmir.

Pakistan's nationwide monsoon death toll has jumped to 72 since the season began — up from 53 on July 22 — as a second monsoon spell brought relentless rains to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. KP has recorded 41 deaths this season, Punjab 19, AJK seven and Balochistan five. The second spell is expected to continue through July 24.
