At least 24 dead in Turkey earthquake

ANKARA: At least 24 people have died in Turkey after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake which struck off the coast of Seferihisar district in the western province of Izmir has risen to 24, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said. The tremors occurred in the Aegean Sea at a depth of 16.5 kilometers (10.3 miles) but were felt across Turkey’s third-largest city and as far away as Istanbul in the north, Daily Sabah reported. HYDERABAD: Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister Asad Umar, while hinting at the curtailment of gas supply to industries in the coming winter season due to depleting reserves, has said that all-out efforts were being made to overcome the issue of gas shortage in the country. “Gas consumption is much higher at around 6 billion cubic feet compared to present production, which is less than 4bcf,” the minister informed while addressing the representatives of chambers of commerce and SITE associations of Nooriabad, Kotri, Jamshoro and Hyderabad at a reception hosted by Ali Junejo in his honour at Hyderabad Gymkhana on Saturday.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has decided to keep Pakistan on its grey list until February 2021 despite complying successfully with 21 out of 27 points of action. The decision was made by the global watchdog for curbing terror financing and money laundering in its virtual plenary session from October 21 to 23.
