The Changing Situation in Afghanistan (Opinion)
The whole world has seen NATO forces pull out of Afghanistan and the Taliban occupying all of Afghanistan in just a few days. When the United States launched its military operation in Afghanistan in 2001, then-Taliban commander Mullah Omar said, “The United States has forcibly entered in Afghanistan and now the United States cannot withdraw from Afghanistan without our consent.” In this war that lasted for 20 years, many Afghan Taliban, Afghan residents lost their lives in US attacks and many Americans lost their lives in Taliban attacks, but eventually, the superpower had to come to the negotiating table.
