YouTuber Rajab Butt, who is facing legal charges in accordance with the country’s blasphemy and crime laws, has publicly apologized during the execution of Umrah in Makkah.

He stands on Masjid-e-Haram, captured a video in which he explained his previous statements and asked for forgiveness, citing the sacredness of the sacred place.

Butt, who has one of the largest online sequences in Pakistan, has been involved in a dispute after the start of a brand of fragrances called “295”, referring to Section 295 of the Pakistani blasphemy law.

The launch triggered a religious turmoil, leading to accusations that the brand is mocking the law on Pakistan’s blasphemy. BUTT faces a first report of information (FIR) in accordance with the prevention of the PCA (PECA) law and Article 295-A of the Pakistan Code, which deals with the infringement of religious beliefs.

In a video posted on Instagram’s account on Tuesday, Butt recites Darood Sharif and the Islamic statement of faith, committing his dedication: “Wealth, life, parents, children and every drop of my blood is dedicated to the Prophet Mohammed”.

He faces the ongoing dispute, stating: “I swear to this sacred place that I did not deliberately do anything wrong” and reiterated his previous apology for any unintentional mistakes. Butt asked his followers to “clean your hearts” towards him.

YouTuber addressed religious scholars, the Punjab government and the Pakistani army to review the charges against him, urging justice.

He also defended himself against the categories related to Section 295, claiming that the video referred to in the law was misunderstood. Butt claimed that the word “False” was edited outside the video, leading to a Fatwa published.

Butt completed his video apologizing to Allah, his messenger and to all Muslims, regretting any offense caused by his actions.

This is not the first time he was at the center of the conflict. He has participated in various scandals over the years, including a short period in which he was criticized to hold a lion.

His recent video promoting the fragrance “295” sparked a further reaction, with leader TLP (Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan) Haider Ali Shah Gillani who submits a fir against the edge of religious beliefs and hate speech.

If convicted, BUTT faces up to 10 years in prison for the categories. In his apology, Butt announced the interruption of the fragrance, stating: “I apologize for the words I gave during the aroma launch.”
