Ubisoft canceled the game of a scheduled “Assassin’s Creed” game during and after the US civil war, according to a new game of the game.
The project, which was in early development, was described as one of the most ambitious doses of the franchise before stopping from the company’s leadership in mid -2024.
Five currents and former Ubisoft officials told File Game that the game would follow a former enslaved black from the American south, who, after winning freedom, moved west to begin a new life.
The protagonist will later be hired by the killers and return south to fight for justice during the reconstruction period, facing the rise of Ku Klux Klan.
The same sources said that the team working for the project was passionate about history, but was frustrated by its cancellation, which they interpret as a reaction to a possible dispute.
According to three of those asked, the administration at the Ubisoft Central Office stopped growing last July after two main concerns.
The first was the electronic reaction earlier that year in the announcement of the “shadows of Creed’s Shadows”, which characterizes Yasuke, a historically inspired black samurai, as one of his protagonists.
The second, which the sources claimed, was the fear of leadership that the game issues would be considered “overly politically” given today’s political climate in the United States. “Very policy in a country too unstable, to make it short,” said one source in the game file.
While cancellations are common in large game studios, trusts said the reasoning behind this decision was unusual. Ubisoft has not publicly commented on the report or confirmed whether the idea could be reviewed in the future.
The reported work of the Civil War era would be one of the most modern environments explored at Creed Assassin’s long -term franchise.
