President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the US is ready to impose new energy sanctions on Russia, but only if all NATO nations stop buying Russian oil and implement similar measures.
“I am ready to make significant sanctions on Russia when all NATO nations agreed and began to do the same thing and when all NATO nations stop buying oil from Russia,” Trump said in a social media position.

In recent weeks, the US has reinforced pressure on NATO countries to tighten energy sanctions in Russia in an effort to help end its war with Ukraine – a Trump conflict has struggled to end in the end despite its repeated threats of tougher sanctions.
Trump has also faced home criticism of repeatedly establishing two -week deadlines for Russia to degrade and allow them to pass without specific action. A August Reuters poll found that 54% of Americans, including one in five of Trump’s Republicans, believe that the president is very closely aligned with Russia.
“The EU has hired – and will continue to deal – with all relevant global partners in its sanctions against Russia and its own imposition,” a European Commission spokesman, an executive arm of the European Union, said.

EU president Ursula von der Leyen said this week in the state of the trade union that every new sanctions package will be aligned with EU rules, including the “long-term principle that our sanctions do not apply extraterrestrial”.
The group of finance ministers of the seven nations on a Friday call was discussed, opening new tabs in Russia and possible prices in countries that consider it to “allow” its war in Ukraine.
Energy revenue remains the most important source of Kremlin’s cash to finance the war effort, making the export of oil and gas a central target of western sanctions. However, officials and analysts warn that the aggressive bins in Russian crude also carry risks to raise global oil prices, a perspective that could accelerate western economies and weaken public support for measures.
Since 2023, NATO member Turkey was the third largest buyer of Russian oil after China and India, according to the energy and clean air research center. Other members of the 32 states involved in the Russian oil market include Hungary and Slovakia.

Trump, who spends the Weekend on Bedminster, New Jersey, Golf Club, said NATO, acting as a block, should impose 50% to 100% invoices on Chinese imports, a move that would weaken the financial adhesion of Beijing to Moscow.
Trump imposed an additional 25% invoice on imports from India to press New Delhi to stop its purchases at a discount of Russian crude oil, bringing total punitive duties to Indian goods to 50% and trade negotiations between the two democracies.
But Trump has avoided imposing additional invoices on Chinese imports on the markets of China’s Russian oil, as its administration navigates a fine trade truce with Beijing.
