Tehran Times begins pro IK propaganda after PM’s Saudi visit

TEHRAN/ISLAMABAD: Iran’s state-affiliated news outlet, Tehran Times has begun pro-Imran Khan propaganda after Saudi Arabia agreed to an $8 billion package for Pakistan.

According to the details, in a tweet, the Iranian “state-affiliated media” outlet claimed that a survey conducted by ‘Arab Magazine’ reveals that 93% of Pakistanis have expressed confidence in Imran Khan as Prime Minister.

Later on, in another tweet, Tehran Times said “the poll, conducted on September 28, 2020, was done among the magazine audiences only, not within Pakistan.” However, no magazine by this name exists and Magazine has no link to any Arab publication.

Furthermore, the ‘survey’ is from 2020 and was then carried in a local media publication which also referred to Khaleej Mag as an Arabic magazine.

It is in fact operated and owned by a Pakistani named Zahid Iqbal who seems to be a PTI sympathiser.

Earlier, it was reported that Pakistan has secured $8 billion from Saudi Arabia, including doubling of the oil financing facility, additional money either through deposits or Sukuks and rolling over of the existing $4.2 billion facilities during the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
