Capturing the world through Reza’s lens

In the historic city of Shusha, nestled in the liberated Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, I had the opportunity to interview renowned photojournalist Reza Deghati during the Shusha Global Media Forum. Deghati, often known simply as Reza, has spent over five decades documenting some of the world’s most intense conflicts, from Afghanistan to Rwanda. His camera has captured the raw humanity of war—its brutality, resilience, and hope. As the last journalist in Shusha during its fall to Armenian forces in 1992, Reza’s return to the city in 2020 and afterward offers a powerful look at change, destruction, and renewal. In this

Global Outrage Over Trump’s Call for Gaza’s Forced Occupation (Opinion)

Donald Trump’s recent statement advocating for the forced occupation of Gaza has triggered a strong international backlash. Even key U.S. allies—Britain, France, and Germany—have openly rejected the notion, asserting that the forced eviction of Palestinians from Gaza is unacceptable. European and Arab nations alike have condemned the proposal, dismissing it outright. For the Palestinian people, Trump’s statement feels like the equivalent of an atomic bomb. The global community has widely denounced the remarks, viewing them as a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region. Meanwhile, Israel continues its expansionist ambitions, having previously occupied parts of Jordan, Egypt, and Syria. There

Pakistan demands accountability for Israeli crimes against Gaza’s children

At the UN Security Council, Pakistan has demanded strict accountability for Israeli crimes against Gaza’s children. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Munir Akram told the fifteen-member UN Security Council during a briefing that we must try to ensure that such brutal slaughter of children never happen again. Expressing his concerns at the Israeli threats of restarting the conflict again, Munir Akram said that Israel needs to be held back. He asked the Security Council to take cognizance of what is happening in the West Bank. He demanded accelerating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians and urged a

PM Shehbaz urges UN to take action against Israel’s genocidal acts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the United Nations Security Council to apply sanctions against Israel, including an arms and trade embargo, for its genocidal acts against the Palestinians. He was delivering a statement during the High-Level Open Debate of United Nations Security Council on “Leadership for Peace” on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. While condemning the recent bombings in Beirut by Israel, the Prime Minister said Israel must halt its genocidal actions in Gaza and prevent any attempts, which provoke a wider conflict in the Middle East In addition,

Israeli forces torture Palestinian health workers during detention: HRW

Israeli forces have been detaining and torturing Palestinian health workers in Gaza since October 2023, according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW). These reports share details of severe mistreatment, including beatings, forced stress positions and threats of sexual violence, in detention facilities inside Israel. HRW revealed that Israeli forces have arrested at least 310 Palestinian health workers in Gaza since October 7, 2023. No one was informed of the reasons for their detention. Witnesses confirmed that Israeli soldiers detained these doctors while they were performing their duties. Healthcare Workers Watch-Palestine, a non-governmental organization, documented 259 of these detentions

Netanyahu fears possible ICC arrest warrants by July 24

JERUSALEM/GAZA: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expects the International Court of Justice (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for him and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant by July 24, Israeli media reported on Wednesday. On May 20, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan requested arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip. “Netanyahu convened a high-stakes debate Tuesday afternoon on the looming possibility that the ICC will heed the request of his attorney general, Karim Khan, and soon issue arrest warrants against him and Galand,” the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported . The meeting was

International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants for senior Russian officials for war crimes

THE HAGUE: The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s former defense minister, and top Russian general Valery Gerasimov on Tuesday for alleged crimes committed during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Shoigu was removed as defense minister last month and appointed Secretary of Russia’s powerful Security Council, in the most significant changes made by Russian President Vladimir Putin to his military command since the start of the war in 2022. The Hague-based court said Shoigu and Gerasimov are suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity for carrying out attacks on civilians and political objects in Ukraine. The

Israel is concerned about possible ICC arrest warrants related to the Gaza war

JERUSALEM: Israel is expressing concern that the International Criminal Court may be preparing to issue arrest warrants for government officials on charges related to the conduct of its war against Hamas. The ICC – which can charge people with war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide – is investigating the October 7 cross-border attack by Hamas and Israel’s devastating military assault on Hamas-run Gaza, now in its seventh month. In response to Israeli media reports that the ICC may soon issue arrest warrants for senior Israeli government and military officials, Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Sunday warned Israeli embassies to
