US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome called on Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in Islamabad on Tuesday.                        During the meeting, matters of the regional security situation enhanced bilateral and defence cooperation were discussed. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a relief fund for assistance of flood affected people. In a statement, the Prime Minister made a fervent appeal to the people, especially the philanthropists, to generously help the people affected by the floods. Alluding to the devastation caused by floods due to unprecedented rains,  he said there has been an extraordinary destruction in Balochistan whilst immense losses have also been caused in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Quetta to review relief activities in the flood-affected areas of Balochistan. On his way, the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority briefed the Prime Minister about the relief activities. The Prime Minister will visit a tent village established for the flood affected people in Khusnoob area of Qila Saifullah.

Death toll rises to 136 in Balochistan floods

The death toll in flood affected districts of Balochistan has risen to 136 while 70 persons have been injured. According to a report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, a total of 13,535 houses were collapsed or partially damaged due to the ongoing heavy rains and floods. Six highways covering 640 kilometres have also been severely affected in the rains and flood. Meanwhile, large-scale relief and rehabilitation operations are underway in all affected areas of the province.

PM Shehbaz expresses grief over loss of lives in UAE floods

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the loss of precious lives, including those of the Pakistani nationals, in the damage caused by floods in the United Arab Emirates. In a tweet on Sunday, he expressed his sympathies and heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families. He said at this difficult time, Pakistan stands in solidarity with the people and government of the UAE. He directed the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi to extend full support to the affected families.

PM Shehbaz constitutes committee to assess damage caused by monsoon rains, floods

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a committee to assess the damage caused by monsoon rains and floods in different parts of the country. Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, he said the committee comprising of federal ministers should visit all the affected areas in the next four days. The Prime Minister said short, medium and long term plans will be formulated in the light of recommendations of the committee on the fourth of next month. Pakistan dispatches relief goods through special flight to flood affected people of Afghanistan

Pakistan has dispatched humanitarian assistance and relief goods through a special flight to the flood-affected people of eastern Afghanistan. Addressing a ceremony in connection with the delivery of relief goods to Afghanistan at Nur Khan Airbase in Islamabad on Friday, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the relief assistance includes tents, blankets, and clothing items, cooking oil and sugar. The Foreign Minister said Pakistan shares the grief of the Afghan people and stands in solidarity with them in these difficult times. He said our relief efforts are a humble testament to the fraternal bonds that exist between the two countries.
