KE plans ambitious 640 MW renewable energy initiative

Islamabad: K-Electric (KE), the main electricity provider for Karachi, is promoting a strategic renewable energy plan that could reshape the city’s electricity landscape. The company has made significant strides in adding 640 MW of renewable energy capacity to the local grid. KE’s revised Requests for Proposals (RFPs) submitted include four renewable energy projects, all in accordance with the open tender regulations set by the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). These projects aim to diversify the city’s energy mix while reducing costs and reducing environmental impact. Islamabad: Pakistan has sought Denmark’s support to increase the share of renewable energy to 40% in the next two years under the National Electricity Plan 2023. ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday announced that the federal and provincial governments have unanimously decided to shut markets by 8pm across the country under ‘energy conservation plan’.
