Rubina Ashraf offers advice to newlyweds

Veteran Pakistani actress Rubina Ashraf sat down for a candid chat on the TV show Good morning Pakistan with host Nida Yasir where she offered valuable advice to newly wed girls on cultivating a successful married life, emphasizing the importance of the early years of the relationship.

Ashraf said, “There are four [primary] responsibilities: home, in-laws, your husband and your child. All four are time consuming tasks. I tell every girl that her first ten years [marriage]…sounds like a lot, but in reality they go by quickly, but the first ten years of married life are an investment.”

The actor insisted, “If you invest them right, then you can count on the fruits [of a well-nurtured marriage].” Ashraf also delved into the crucial aspect of parenting and shared how mothers, like their children, also go through different stages in their lives.

“When these stages pass and you look back on them, you see where you went wrong,” Ashraf pointed out, stressing the need for reflection. “I did my best like any mother,” she further recounted her experiences as a working mother who had to juggle her acting career alongside her motherly duties.

“Now I feel like I should have been a little more relaxed,” the actress expressed, revealing how she was a strict parent. “If it’s time to change clothes, then you should. If you misbehave in the car, I will stop driving, open the door and tell my child to walk,” Rubina said.

She added: “I was so strict when I had to be.” The actor also maintained that motherhood is a work in progress where you keep learning and relearning. “I was a confident mother. At the same time, learning from other people and trying to achieve certain things.”
