The stock market opened higher on Wednesday, as investors were placed in front of the Pakistani State Bank (SBP) basic policy announcement.

The Pakistani Stock Exchange (PSX) reference index went up to an intra-business high of 139,018.88, earning 1,054.07 points or 0.76%and recorded a low of 138,120.03 for the summit, reflecting a 155,22 or 0.11%UPTick or 0.11%. 137,964,81.

“Stocks have been retrieved higher, as investor SBP policy Eye Eye SBP reduces in the midst of sluggish inflation in the SBP announcement later today,” said Ahsan Mehanti, CEO and CEO of Arif Habib Commodities.

“The strong financial results, the increase in world shares and the stability of Rupia have played a catalyst for Bullish activity in the PSX,” he added.

Topline Securities Managing Director Mohammed Sohail explained the reasons for the optimistic feeling as “expectations of interest rates and the announcement of system acquisition”.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) today meets (July 30) to set the reference rate. A consensus between analysts suggests that SBP is likely to announce a cut of interest rates, with market focusing on the size of the expected reduction, as inflation continues to moderate, according to The news.

One of the most important corporate developments to enhance the feeling was the approval of Systems Limited (SYS) – Pakistan’s largest listed software company – to obtain British American Tobacco Saa Services (PVT) LTD from Bat International (UK). The acquisition is aimed at a company that provides joint IT services in marketing, human resources, funding and supplies.

In a wider global context, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) increased economic growth forecasts for emerging and growing economies to 4.1% in 2025, from 3.7%. The upward revision is attributed to Political Frontloading and improved expectations for China’s economic prospects. For 2026, the IMF now expects a 4%increase, slightly higher than the previous projection 3.9%.

On Tuesday, the KSE-100 index was reduced by 1,415.24 points or 1.02%to settle to 137,964.82 points from the previous closure of 139.380.06. The index struck the high of 140,331.02 and the low of 137,636.37 during the session, as profit and pre-political uncertainty led to emotion.
