The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) expanded its lost series for a third meeting on Wednesday, with the KSE-100 reference index observing sharp fluctuations throughout the day.
The negotiation was opened to a positive note, pushing the index to high intravenous 166.947.19. However, the pressure sale was later placed, dragging the index at a low 165.109.84. By the closure, the KSE-100 index had reduced 907 points, or 0.55%, to be installed to 165,266.75.

KTRADE Securities Equity Trader Ahmed Sheraz said the fall was due to investor concerns, as Pakistan’s state bank said a policy reduction is unlikely at the upcoming Monetary Policy (MPC) meeting. “This concern is further reinforced by increased control by the International Monetary Fund as part of the ongoing review,” he added.
Heavyweight stocks such as United Bank, Fauji Fertilizer, Lucky Cement and Mari Energies weighed the index, while Tech Stock Systems Limited (SYS) and Alfalah bank provided some respite.
Market activity remained strong. “The market direction is expected to remain closely linked to geopolitical developments and the result of the continued review of the IMF – both will play a critical role in shaping the investment feeling,” Sharaz said.
Arif Habib Limited (AHL) noted that market failure to recover 167,200 units on Wednesday sets the next area of interest between 163,800 and 164,200 degrees.
