“The police issued [Deol] a notification on April 30. His office sent him a letter saying he was out of town the day he was scheduled to report,” he confirmed to the publication.
Gupta, a real estate developer-turned-producer, claimed to have signed Deol as the head of a project in 2016 and agreed to pay a total of INR 40 million. In a press conference, Gupta claimed that the actor had received an advance for the film but then walked out of his commitments without returning the money.
“We gave him INR 10 million in advance, but instead of starting my film, he chose to shoot for Poster Boys (2017),” said Gupta. Hindustan Times. “She kept asking for money, until now, [I have paid] 25.5 million INR in Sunny’s account. It also made me give money to another director, book the Filmistaan studio and get an executive producer.”
Gupta claimed that Deol continued to take money without working for his film, which was never completed. According to him, Deol promised to start working on Gupta’s project but did not respond after its commercial success Gadar 2 (2023) in which the actor played an important role.
Additionally, Gupta alleged that Deol had made unjustified changes to the deal with his company in 2023. “We saw that he increased his fees from INR 40 million to INR 80 million and increased his earnings to INR 20 million,” he said.

“Sunny Deol has acquired rights from my film Ajay (1999) for overseas distribution and made only partial payment,” alleged Darshan. “The payment of the balance was never made. Later, Sunny asked me to work on a project with him, saying, ‘Have faith in me, help me,’ and made me pay him again.”
Adding fuel to the fire, an unnamed source from the film industry said that Deol has been a “known troublemaker” for years. The source claimed that Deol has signed a film titled Ram Janmbhumi for an agreed amount of INR 50 million leading a producer to build a large set in Mumbai. “Later, he [Deol] refused to come on the sets and demanded a fee of INR 250 million for delivering a blockbuster (Gadar 2),” the source claimed.
