Researchers do not expect to find survivors on the stage of a huge explosion at a Tennessee military company that left 18 missing people, officials said on Saturday.
The explosion, which was felt for miles, was leveled a building at the 1,300 -acre headquarters (5 square kilometers) of the expensive energy systems early Friday morning at Bucksnort, about an hour by car west of Nasville.
“More than 300 people have passed almost every square inch of this facility, and at the moment, we have not recovered survivors,” Humphreys County Chris Davis told reporters. “It’s a great loss for our communities.”
Officials did not offer an accurate death tax, but have said in the past that 18 people had not been recorded. Davis confirmed that the operation had shifted from the rescue to a recovery and that the researchers would use DNA tests to confirm the identities of those who died.

The researchers, including agents from the FBI and the Alcohol, Tobacco, Dystonian and Explosive Guns, were still working to determine the cause of the explosion, officials said. The presence of explosives and other shots on the property has made the scene searching for a complex.
In a statement on Friday, the company thanked the first correspondents, but did not show a possible reason.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with families, colleagues and community members affected by this incident,” the company said.
Exact energy systems are developing, manufacturing and storing explosives for “military, aerospace and demolition markets”, according to the company’s website. The headquarters includes eight production buildings and a quality laboratory.
A small explosion of ammunition at the factory in 2014 killed a person and injured three, according to local news.
