MTV has officially canceled Rob Dyrdek’s long-running show “Ridiculousness” after 14 years and a staggering 46 seasons, ending one of the most persistent runs on modern cable television. The series launched in August 2011 and became a defining part of MTV’s identity, offering comedic commentary on viral videos, internet mishaps and outrageous stunts. Co-hosted by Chanel West Coast and later Lauren "lol" Wood, the show built a devoted following and spawned several spin-offs, including “Deliciousness,” “Adorableness,” and “Messyness.” Despite its enduring popularity, MTV has confirmed that production has ceased, although previously taped episodes will continue to air into 2026. Reruns – which once took up more than half of MTV’s daily schedule – will also remain on the channel, with full seasons available on Paramount+. Industry insiders say the cancellation is in line with MTV’s broader strategy to revamp its schedule and return to "experimental roots"focusing on new creative voices and a more curated lineup. Parent company Paramount Skydance is reportedly steering the network toward innovative storytelling reminiscent of its early years. Economic factors also played a role in the decision. A Bloomberg report revealed that Dyrdek earned at least $32.5 million a year from the show, including bonuses and high per-episode fees — a significant cost amid shifting media priorities. In its 1,700 episodes, “Ridiculousness” has become almost synonymous with MTV, garnering both loyal fans and criticism for dominating airtime at the expense of fresh content. The end of the show, however, marks a turning point for the network, which is now seeking to redefine itself in an evolving entertainment landscape. While no new episodes will be made, the laughter and mayhem of “Ridiculousness” will continue to air on Paramount+, ensuring that its legacy remains embedded in MTV’s pop culture history.
