Kristen Stewart wants to direct a ‘Twilight’ remake.

Kristen Stewart wants to direct a ‘Twilight’ remake.

Kristen Stewart is ready to return to the world of Twilight, but this time behind the camera. The actress and director, known for Chronology of Water, recently revealed at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards that the first Twilight film is the one she would most like to remake. Stewart expressed admiration for the original directors, noting their unique approaches and commitment to the series at a time when the franchise was just starting to develop.

“I would love to. Look, I like what Katherine [Hardwicke] did, I like what Chris [Weitz] I love what all of the directors did with the movies,” Stewart told Entertainment Tonight. She described their work as “squirrel” and full of personality, capturing a moment before the series became popular. Despite that respect, Stewart couldn’t hide her excitement to imagine her own take on the story, with a lot of support.

“Imagine if we had like, a huge budget and a ton of love and support. I don’t know… I’d love to readjust,” she said. Turning to the camera, she confirmed her commitment, “Yeah, sure, I’m going to do the remake. I’m doing it! I’m committed!”

Stewart also reflected on the challenges faced by subsequent Twilight directors, praising Hardwicke’s work on the first film and empathizing with those who directed the sequels in a highly controlled process. He noted that despite the pressures, each film maintained its own distinct personality. Stewart’s remarks underscore her desire to create a version that honors the originals while offering her own vision.

Twilight fans have already seen interest from the studio in revisiting the franchise, with Lionsgate developing a TV adaptation in 2023. While details remain scarce, Stewart’s announcement signals her willingness to bring new energy to the series and explore the story from a new creative perspective.
