LOS ANGELES:
Kelly Osbourne has shared a touching tribute following the death of celebrity makeup artist and Finding Prince Charming star Jasen Kaplan. The TV personality posted a series of messages and images on Instagram remembering her close friend, describing his death as devastating.
“I’m devastated. I love you so much,” Osbourne wrote over a photo collage of the pair. “Thank you for all the love, laughter and joy you brought into my life. I hope you are at peace now. Life will never be the same without you! RIP my dear friend!”
News of Kaplan’s death was first reported by Page Six, which reported that the NYPD was investigating the death of a 46-year-old man in a Hell’s Kitchen apartment believed to be owned by Kaplan. Entertainment Weekly reported that it had reached out to representatives for both Kaplan and the NYPD for more information.
Osbourne shared several stories on Instagram reflecting on their long friendship and professional partnership. In one of her posts, she wrote that she would make sure to take care of Kaplan’s dog, Coco. In another, she recalled their late-night FaceTime calls, writing that she would miss them forever. She also described Kaplan as “the best wingman a girl could ask for,” adding that their 25-year friendship meant everything to her.
Kaplan has built a long career as a celebrity makeup artist, working with high-profile clients for more than two decades. It first gained wider recognition after appearing at the 2005 E! Reality series The Gastineau Girls, where she worked with Brittny and Lisa Gastineau. His client list later included Bethenny Frankel, Tinsley Mortimer, Sonja Morgan, Eva Longoria, Lynda Carter and Cyndi Lauper.
Kaplan previously appeared in Logo’s dating series Finding Prince Charming. His death follows that of fellow athlete Chad Spodick, who died in December aged 42.

Shortly after the news of his death, many of Kaplan’s longtime customers recalled their favorite moments sitting in his glam chair. Bethenny — who recently worked with the creative on several of her campaigns last summer — described him as not only her “makeup artist, but my friend and a constant part of my team.”
“Jasen Kaplan had a positive energy that was truly infectious,” she captioned her Instagram post on Dec. 1. “He was fun, lively and always brought his A-game. The world lost a unique gem on New Year’s Eve that still doesn’t seem real. Jasen was magnetic, generous, endlessly supportive and always sharing his latest finds – food, products, people.”
The Real Housewives of New York City alum continued, “You will always be on Team B, for life and the afterlife. No one will have better glam than me in heaven. Rest in peace and enjoy all the caviar and coconut cake.”
Jasen first gained recognition in 2005 when he worked with model Brittny Gastineau and her mom Lisa Gastineau on the E! reality show Gastineau Girls that year. He returned to the reality world over a decade later, briefly appearing as a contestant on Logo’s dating series Finding Prince Charming in 2016.
But beyond showing his life on screen, he often showcased his work with clients like Tinsley Mortimer, Tori Spelling and Kelly on social media.
And true to their years-long friendship, the Osbournes alum echoed Bethenny’s grief in her own Instagram Stories. There, she created a photo gallery of her and Kaplan’s sweetest memories over the years.
