  • Iran, we are making a fourth round of talks on Muscat.
  • Trump’s biggest voyage starts next week.
  • Tehran does not say compromise on nuclear rights.

Muscat: Iran and the United States launched the fourth round of nuclear talks in Oman on Sunday amid a situation for uranium enrichment, with Tehran calling it “non -negotiable”, while Washington described it as “red line”.

The negotiations follow previous rounds that began about a month ago, marking the highest level of contact between the two enemies from Washington, retired in 2018 by a milestone nuclear deal during President Donald Trump’s first term.

“The capacity of enrichment is one of the prices and achievements of the Iranian nation,” Foreign Minister Abbas Abas Araghchi said in a video before leaving Muscat, adding that the issue was “non -negotiable”.

“We had more consultations in Tehran this morning and in this round we hope to reach a decisive point,” he added.

Iran Isna The news agency later confirmed that the “indirect” conversations between the two sides had begun.

The last round of the negotiations comes amid a turmoil in the area, with Trump heading to the Gulf for his first big foreign tour next week, after Araghchi was in Saudi Arabia and Qatar this weekend.

Both sides have reported progress after previous rounds.

But there have been some delays and disagreements about Iran’s right to enrich heaven, with a US envoy calling him a “red line”.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said negotiators would promote relief from US sanctions during the meeting.

Red line

YouSuf Al Bulushi, chairman of the Political Music Council, said the two sides “did not reach a major discovery and this will take a long time, but I am optimistic.”

The fourth round was originally set to take place on May 3, but had been rescheduled, with Oman’s mediator referring to “logistical reasons”.

Western countries, including the US, have long accused Iran of seeking to obtain nuclear weapons, Tehran’s claim has been consistently denied, insisting that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Iran is currently enriching heaven in purity of 60%-more than the 3.67% limit set in Washington and other global forces, but below 90% required for weapons material.

US envoy Steve Witkoff, who led the Washington delegation, said in an interview on Friday that “Iran’s enrichment facilities must be disassembled”.

“This is our red line.

Witkoff said that if the conversations “are not productive … they will not continue and we will have to take a different route”.

Trump said he wanted “overall verification” that Iran’s disputed nuclear work was closing and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio insisted that Tehran resigns from uranium enrichment.

Araghchi, head of Tehran’s negotiator, has repeatedly defended Iran’s right to enrich heaven.

In the meantime, Balushi warned that both sides had lost valuable time during previous negotiations to clarify “whether what was said was or not” instead of resolving differences.

‘Experts’ on the table

Iran complied with the 2015 agreement for one year after Washington’s withdrawal before it began to restore its compliance.

Since returning to the office in January, Trump has revived the “maximum pressure” approach to Tehran while supporting nuclear diplomacy, but warning of possible military action if it fails.

Talks take place amid a renewed examination of the basic aspects of Tehran’s nuclear program, especially the stock of the enriched uranium and the rate of its enrichment activities.

European governments weigh whether they will activate the “Snapback” mechanism under the 2015 agreement, which will restore UN sanctions in response to Iranian non-compliance-an option expiring in October.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who opposes Iran-US talks, has called for the disassembled of Tehran’s nuclear facilities and to stop the ballistic missile program as part of any credible agreement.

Tehran insisted that the talks focus solely on the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions, excluding negotiations on military skills.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Baqaei said that the Iranian delegation “consists of experts and experts needed at this stage of talks, serving the highest interests of our country.”
