Hi Haya,
I am a housewife and I feel completely stressed at home and I could really use some time from my hectic routine. I desperately want to go on vacation.
But there is a problem. My husband can’t get me on vacation because of his job. It is difficult for him to make time for any such plans. Can’t do anything outside the monotonous domestic routine is extremely drained for me, and holidays, even for a few days, could really help me feel renewed.
Do you have tips on what to do in such a situation?

Dear Anon,
It sounds like you have brought a lot of responsibilities to the house and begins to feel drained, where you may fight with your exhaustion and your body asks you to rest.
I hear you say that a break feels like the type of reset you need, but at this time this option is not available because of your spouse’s program. This should feel frustrating – almost as if it is stuck between the need for rest and the reality of your circumstances. When our nervous systems are under constant pressure without relief, they naturally want a change of rhythm and environment.
Let’s honor this need for rest.
Explore what’s going on inside. I will encourage you to think about what a holiday means to you right now.
Rest, freedom, fun, connection or escape?
Sometimes we chase a vacation because it symbolizes something that is missing in our daily lives (play, innovation, quiet or even emotional connection). Determination of our underlying needs helps us find alternative ways to meet them, even if the journey is not possible.
Focus on what we can check
Your husband’s program is out of control, but your ability to create smaller, more deliberate breaks for yourself is not. Let’s take a look at what we can control.
– Could you plan a solo getaway? Or with a friend/family member without waiting for him? (You may feel unusual if you are used to traveling with your husband, but the solo journey or transition with someone else may be deeply refreshing and empowering, it does not need to be far away – enough to get out of your daily environment.
– Could you create mini adventures for yourself at home? If the trip is not possible, you could focus on bringing the essence of the holiday to your weekly life. This can be a dedicated job, the day/days of responsibilities, the exploration of new positions in your city, a day of spa, or even rituals that were squeezed and innovation – because your system tells you that it needs it.
Talk openly with your husband.
Let him find out how important this is for your well -being and how much it burns you feel. Even if it cannot be integrated, its support to help you design a short solo break or take responsibility, while you rest at home could make a big difference.
Remember, your nervous system gives you signals that you ask you to honor. When we do not hear, we continue to load it until it crushes. Honor the signals and let yourself be removed from exhaustion cycles.
Sometimes we wait for the perfect vacations to feel refreshed, but often, a carefully planned mini break-even if it is only for yourself-it can shift your energy.
My best wishes,
Permission
