‘House of the Dragon’ Teases Brutal Competition in Season 2

The highly anticipated HBO series, House of the Dragon, has unleashed a tantalizing look at its upcoming second season, sparking fervent speculation and excitement among fans. With the premiere set for June 16, the network dropped not one, but two different trailers for the upcoming installment.

Set 200 years before its exciting events Game of Thrones, Season 2 plunges viewers into the heart of the Dance of Dragons, a fierce civil war tearing the Targaryen dynasty apart. With one trailer dressed in the ominous hues of Rhaenyra’s dark faction and the other pulsating with the emerald glow of Alicent’s green team, audiences are invited to choose sides in the silent conflict that threatens to tear Westeros apart.

The trailers offer a fascinating look at the divergent paths of these two rival factions. A trailer unfolds within the stronghold of Dragonstone, where Rhaenyra, along with Prince Daemon and their forces, muster their strength in preparation for the impending conflict. Meanwhile, the other trailer thrusts viewers into the political cauldron of King’s Landing, where Alicent, aided by her father Otto and her sons King Aegon and Prince Aemond, maneuvers to secure her power.

Amidst the deluge of internet backlash, one sentiment resonates loudly: admiration for HBO’s cunning two-trailer strategy. “Making two trailers for House of the Dragon Getting people to pick a side is kind of genius, actually… Anyway, I know where my loyalties lie,” one fan cryptically wrote on microblogging platform X, formerly Twitter, naming neither Rhaenyra nor Alicent.

For Rhaenyra’s staunch supporters, the trailers served as confirmation of their unwavering faith. Expressions of affection and solidarity flooded social media, with one fan defiantly declaring: “Rhaenyra my love, they could never make me hate you.”

Others question Queen Alicent’s motives and actions. Critics seized on her perceived insanity, mocking her as “delusional” and “stupid” for her decisions and interpretations of events within the sphere. One user couldn’t resist a light jab, saying, “Alicent [is] legal idiot. She knew the guy was drugged, but still thought he meant her Aegon?’
