Hasan Raheem invites viral wedding an unexpected gift

Wedding videos may be understood as personal souvenirs, but when they appeared online by singer Hasan Raheem, he turned into a Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) cultural showcase (GB) capturing Pakistan fans.

The August marriage of the 26-year-old singer-singer was undoubtedly the viral event of the summer, with a Raheem clip in traditional Gilgiti clothing that is widely circulated in social media.

Raheem, at a meeting with the BBC Asian Network, reflects the experience with humor and gratitude – especially to his mother, who had urged him to embrace the tradition on his big day.

One most important point in the celebrations was Raheem’s active dance. He reminded him to pull on the floor “every five minutes” to highlight his movements. “I told everyone that I will show them how it was,” he laughed, adding that his steps were deeply rooted in Gilgiti culture.

The singer admitted that he did not expect such a burst of love online, joking with friends that if the music did not work: “We are dancers at weddings now.”

In addition to the track, Raheem’s clothing also hit a string. Shuqa’s coat – a family heirloom passed through his grandfather to his mother to his father and then to him – combined with a classic Pakol lid, became a symbol of cultural pride.

“I didn’t think people would notice it so much,” he said, “but love for it was overwhelming.”

The viral videos also caused a discussion about his affectionate moments with his bride. Asked if he had a second thought on public promotion, Raheem acknowledged the original hesitation.

His mother even suggested that he banned mobile phones at the wedding, but he got the idea. “I was very happy to boil over things that I can’t really control,” he explained. Calling it the “best week” of his life, he said that criticism ran compared to the joy of the moment.

Adding to the light chaos, Raheem said his cousins had turned into “influences for six days”, busy with the filming and publication of all. “I should have needed them to make content from my wedding,” he was joking.

For Raheem, what started as a family celebration has an unexpectedly national speech point-one that not only destroyed his musical star, but also presented the rich traditions of Gilgit-Baltistan to a wider audience.
