Hasan Raheem finds ‘new band’ at Shehzad Roy’s school

In a touching display of talent and collaboration, renowned musician Shehzad Roy shared a clip on social media of Hasan Raheem performing with the young students at Zindagi Trust school. The video not only highlighted the power of music education but also highlighted the transformative impact of initiatives like Zindagi Trust in nurturing young talent.

Roy, a staunch supporter of education reform in Pakistan, went to X to highlight how the introduction of chess as a subject in a government school was met with skepticism encapsulated in the phrase, “Chess is gambling”. He shared, “I first heard about it when I introduced chess as a subject in public school. Fast forward to today: Hasan Raheem found his new group in the form of young girls of Zindagi Trust approved government school, the same school, where both chess and music are now school subjects.’

The clip captures the essence of a thriving educational environment where the arts flourish. Roy’s post reflects his pride in seeing his educational initiatives come to fruition and the blossoming talent within the school’s walls. Raheem, visibly excited in the video, is seen surrounded by a group of young girls who not only share his love of music but also display impressive musical ability. Their harmonious performance, singing alongside Raheem, paints a picture of camaraderie and shared passion. The joy on the young singer’s face is palpable and Roy’s presence in the video resembles that of a proud mentor and father figure.

Raheem himself took to X to express his feelings about the experience, stating: “Seeing these future leaders of Pakistan playing their instruments, happily humming my song, Aysay Kaisay, made me realize that our girls’ future is bright and shiny. It was heartwarming and touching. Zindagi Trust, you have all my respect and love.”

The heartfelt collaboration between the two singers and the students of the Zindagi Trust faculty not only highlights the power of music and education, but also serves as a testament to the transformative impact of initiatives that prioritize holistic development.
