Hamas officials arrived in Egypt on Sunday before talks with Israel that the US hopes will lead to a stop in the fight and release of hostages in Gaza, with the leading Washington diplomat saying that the next few days are critical.
Israeli negotiators led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer had to travel to Egypt on Monday for negotiations at the Sharm El-Sheikh Red Sea resort for the release of hostages, part of the US President Donald Trump.
“We will know very quickly whether Hamas is serious or not in the way these technical conversations happen in terms of logistics,” America’s Foreign Minister Marco Rubio told NBC News “Meet the Press” on Sunday
Trump later stated on Sunday that the negotiations were quickly proceeded. “I was told that the first phase should be completed this week and I ask everyone to move quickly,” he said in a social media position.
The first phase deals with the release of hostages in exchange for the liberation of Palestinian prisoners.
A Hamas delegation, led by the exiled Gaza leader, Khalil Al-Hayya, landed in Egypt late Sunday to participate in US representatives. and Qatar for conversations for implementing the most advanced effort to stop the conflict.
It was Hayya’s first visit to Egypt since he survived an Israeli strike in Doha, the capital of Katari, last month.
Trump has promoted a 20 -point plan aimed at ending Gaza Games, ensuring the release of the remaining hostages and defining the future of the territory. Israel and Hamas agreed to parts of the plan.

Hamas on Friday accepted the release of hostages and many other elements, but violated controversial points, including disarmament invitations, which has long been rejected.
Trump welcomed Hamas’s answer, saying that he thought Hamas had shown that she was “ready for a constant peace”. He told Israel to stop bombarding the Gaza immediately, but his attacks on the enclave continued.
Avoiding a gradual approach
An employee informed of the talks in Egypt said the negotiators would focus on forging a comprehensive agreement before the ceasefire.
“This differs from the previous rounds of the negotiations, which followed a gradual approach, where the first phase was agreed and then required more negotiations to reach the next phases when the ceasefire,” the Reuters official said.
“These subsequent rounds of negotiations are where things have broken before and there is a conscious attempt between mediators to avoid this approach this time.”
Rubio told ABC’s “This Week” that a timetable for finalizing an agreement on the release of hostages was uncertain, but that the conversations “could not take weeks or even multiple days, we want to see this happen very quickly”.
Strikes continue
The plan has settled hopes for peace among the Palestinians, but there was no requirement on Israeli attacks on Gaza on Sunday. Airplanes and tanks hit the areas throughout the enclave, killing at least 19 people, local health authorities said.
Four of those killed were looking for help south of the lane and five killed on an air route in the city of Gaza early in the afternoon, they said.

Ahmed Assad, an displaced Palestinian in central Gaza, said he was optimistic when the news broke Trump’s plan, but said that nothing had changed on the ground.
“We don’t see any change in the situation. On the contrary, we don’t know what action we need to take. What will we do? We will stay on the streets? He asked.
Some in Israel optimists about the end of the war
In a sign of Israeli optimism for the Trump plan, the Shekel currency hit a three -year high against the dollar and Tel Aviv’s stocks reached a high level.
Some people in Tel Aviv shared this feeling. “It’s the first time in months that I’m really optimistic. Trump has really instilled a lot of hopes for us,” resident Gil Shelly said.
Inside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is caught between increasing pressure to end the war-from hostage families and a war audience-and demands by members of the coalition who insist that there should be no sense in Israel’s campaign in Gaza.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich told X that the suspension attacks on Gaza would be a “serious mistake”. He and security minister Itamar Ben-GVIR threaten to reduce the Netanyahu government if the Gaza war is over.
But opposition leader Yair Lapid of the Central Party Yesh Atid said political coverage will be provided so that the Trump Initiative can succeed and “we will not let them torpedo the deal”.
Israel began attacking Gaza after the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people, mainly citizens and 251 hostages, according to Israel.
The Israeli campaign, which killed more than 67,000 people in Gaza, most of the citizens, according to Gaza health authorities, have led to international isolation.
