Compliance with SPS Standards Must: Minister

Compliance with SPS Standards Must: Minister

Islamabad:

Federal Minister of National Food Food and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has reiterated that compliance with health and SPS regulations is a key principle of international trade in agricultural products.

“These rules are not a wording, it is the salvation of our export system, the safeguarding of food safety, public health and ecosystem biosafas,” the minister said in a statement published Wednesday.

Responding to the instructions, the Department of Plant Protection (DPP), which works at the Ministry of National Food Safety, has taken initiatives between rice, maize, citrus and mango sectors to ensure compliance with SPS standards.

During the current Mango period, several reforms were introduced, including the posting of staff at the outlet points, the involvement of renowned inspection companies (PSIs), the installation of CCTV cameras, the monitoring of the back-end, the compulsory perforation of missions and reconstruction of staff to remove staff. These steps reflect the government’s commitment to transparency and credibility in the phytone certification system.

Earlier, DPP violated a significant violation on May 25, 2025 at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. In collaboration with Pakistan’s customs, three missions of a 6.2 metric tone weighing and were assigned $ 25,649, which went to Norway, stopped due to non -compliance with the mandatory phytoic protocols of the European Union.

Exporters have attempted to bypass the critical SPS requirements, such as hot water treatment, supply of registered orchards, pesticide residual analysis, and the correct HS code statement.
