ROME:
Claudia Cardinale, a glamorous symbol of post -war Italian cinema that enjoyed a long and varied career in film and theater, died at the age of 87, according to AFP and other French media.
Cardinale died on Tuesday near Paris “in the presence of her children,” Laurent Savry said in a message sent to AFP. “It leaves us the legacy of a free and inspired woman,” Savry added.
In Tunisia in a family of Sicilian origin, Cardinale’s introduction to the world of cinema came in 1957 after winning a beauty contest in Tunis and was rewarded with a trip to the Venice Film Festival.
Her voice had to be compiled for the first Italian roles on the screen because she had grown up in a family where the Sicily dialect was talking and trained in a French school.
Her early career was also complicated by a secret pregnancy that said it was the result of an abusive relationship. He gave birth to a son, Patrick, in London in 1958 and passed him as a younger brother for several years, and he was raised by his parents.
After a series of smaller roles, he shot in international reputation in 1963, when he appeared on Federico Fellini’s ‘8-1/2’, and also starred with Burt Lancaster in ‘The Leopard’ that same year.
Taking two films at the same time has been complicated, with Cardinale reminding that it had to have different hair colors for both roles.
Cardinale’s career took a hit in the 1970s after being separated by film producer Franco Cristaldi to launch a lifelong relationship with director Pasquale Squitieri, with whom he had a daughter, also called Claudia.
Cristaldi asked her friends and associates in the Italian film industry to extract Cardinale, for example, Visconti to download it for his latest film, “The Innocent” (1976).
Franco Zeffirelli finally came to her disposal, throwing her in the 1977 television series “Jesus of Nazareth”. He then continued to work with other European directors, such as Werner Herzog and Marco Bellocchio.
The voice, the chain that causes the Cardinale chain had a reputation as a strongly independent, free woman, who once defied the Vatican protocol, showing a meeting with Pope Paul VI in a mini bloating.
A book 2022 celebrating her life was called “Claudia Cardinale. The unmistakable. “
Based on much of the year in France and friends with Presidents Francois Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac, Cardinale turned to the theater around the beginning of this century, winning her performances on stage.
She continued to make films in a variety of European languages until late her life, appearing in the Swiss television series ‘Bulle’ in 2020. A life achievement was awarded at the Berlin Film Festival in 2002, said the action was a great career.
“I have lived over 150 lives, prostitutes, saint, romantic, all kinds of woman, and this is wonderful to have this opportunity to change yourself,” he said. “I have worked with the most important directors. They gave me everything.”
