Book Slams Meta, Best Seller List Tops

San Francisco:

A shady book on the parent company Facebook Meta, whose author has been banned from promoting her work, has entered the top of the New York Times bestseller after the first week of liberation in the United States. The book also ranks fourth in the Amazon Bestseller list, the platform showed on Thursday.

In careless people: A warning story of power, greed and lost idealism, released on March 11, Sarah Wynn-Williams reports that she works on Tech Titan from 2011 to 2017.

Wynn-Williams’s book includes claims for sexual harassment by the long-term executive of Joel Kaplan, a prominent Republican and ally of President Donald Trump, who took over this year as head of the Meta World Affairs Group.

He also wrote about Meta, then known as Facebook, exploring the ability to break into the lucrative Chinese market with the placement of government censors there.

Meta quickly took the issue of arbitration, arguing that the book violates a non-disadvantage signed by Wynn-Williams when it worked with the company’s global affairs team.

A arbitration court granted Meta’s request from preventing Wynn-Williams from promoting the book or making derogatory statements about the company.

It must also withdraw previous critical comments about META or its executives, in accordance with the decision, which remains in force until the difference in arbitration process is settled.

“This decision confirms that Sarah Wynn-Williams’ false and defamatory book should never have been published,” Communications Director Meta Andy Stone at that time in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Stone said Wynn-Williams “was fired for poor performance and toxic behavior”, having made a series of unfounded allegations investigated by the company.

Another book that is extremely critical of Meta, the restless generation, which paints a dark image of the influence of social media on children, is today fourth in the list of best -sellers Times a year after its release. AFP
