Billi Porter shares devastating announcement of mother’s death, says her fight was ‘long’ and ‘tough’
Billy Porter is mourning the death of his mother, Clorinda Jean Johnson Porter-Ford, as the actor shared a “heartfelt” tribute on social media.
The american horror story The star shared a joint Instagram post on both his and his late mother’s accounts to share the sad news of her death, along with a slideshow of his and his sister Mary Martha Ford’s favorite memories with Cloerinda.
Stating that he was there when his mother passed away, the actor wrote: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Cloerinda Jean Johnson Porter-Ford. We were by her side when she breathed her last, wrapped in our arms.”
“Mom lived life to the fullest despite the physical limitations that pressed on her,” he added.
According to Porter’s 2021 memoir Unprotectedhis mother was diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease in her youth that has only progressed and has confined her to a wheelchair ever since.
The siblings expressed that they are “heartbroken that she is no longer here with us, but take comfort that her suffering is over. Her fight was long and hard – she did it with grace and integrity.”
“Mom will forever remain in our hearts as she continues to guide us from above as she did on this Earth. From work to reward…”, concluded the tribute.
It’s worth noting that this sad news comes 5 weeks after his mother’s birthday, which Porter celebrated with a sweet Instagram post at the time, writing: “We are so grateful to have our beautiful mother with us for another turn around the sun. Please keep your loved ones close. We love you, Mom!”
