United or Divided? – A Look at Pakistan’s Political Polarisation
Widespread chaos erupted in Pakistan after the arrest of former PM Imran Khan on May 9th 2023. As a response, violent rallies and protests were held out by PTI supporters in numerous cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, etc. Unfortunately, this resulted in what is now categorized as one of the most profound tragedies to occur in Pakistan’s history. Reports showed that at least 10 protestors had lost their lives and thousands were arrested, hundreds of which claim to have been abused and treated unfairly in prison. Additionally, authorities reported a loss of Rs2.5 billion of which Rs1.8 billion in losses
