On October 30th, for the first time in Brazilian history, an incumbent President lost re-election. In a world where populist rhetoric has met unfettered support, Sunday’s run-off election proved to be revolutionary. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, famously known as Lula to Brazilians, has defeated Jair Bolsonaro by gaining 50.9 per cent of the votes to his 49.1 per cent.
