In 2016, Arshad Khan, a charming tea seller, became a viral sensation ‘Arshad Chaiwala’ after a photo by local photographer Jiah Ali caught the attention of social media. Fast forward to today, Arshad has gone from a local sensation to an international entrepreneur, with a thriving global brand, cleverly named Café Chaiwala.
Arshad recently participated in one Digital Pakistan interview, shedding light on his journey from a small cafe in Islamabad to launching international franchises. He expressed his desire to elevate Pakistan’s presence on the world stage, citing the lack of Pakistani brands internationally as his motivation. Arshad shared, “I always wanted to launch my own brand.”
“After I had a coffee in Islamabad, my life would have been fine, I didn’t need anything else. I started my brand only because I wanted Pakistan to gain recognition in the world,” he said, emphasizing that he aimed to create job opportunities by putting Pakistan on the international map.
The 24-year-old further insisted, “In the entire history of Pakistan, no brand has gone international in just 6 months.” Despite being content with his small cafe, Arshad’s vision and determination led to the rapid expansion of his brand within six months, driven by the desire to create more jobs and opportunities for people.
Speaking about his Café Chaiwala outlet in London’s Ilford Lane, Arshad confirmed: “We have finalized deals for ten more outlets [in London].”
The businessman-slash-internet-celebrity was also asked about his love life, to which he replied that he will not get married yet despite many offers. “When the time is right, I will announce that I am ready to marry.” Elaborating more, Arshad firmly stated that he is currently not romantically linked with anyone.
After becoming a viral sensation for his striking blue eyes and good looks, the man behind Café Chaiwala was all set for a dream run in showbiz. From landing a modeling contract to landing a film role, Arshad said no to the high life and chose to return to his dhaba in Islamabad.
In 2020, the former tea seller launched his venture Café Chaiwala, a rooftop cafe in Islamabad. Talking about the name of the foundation, Arshad told Urdu News, “Many people told me to change the current name and call it Arshad Khan instead, but I refused because Chai Wala is my identity.” He added how he still creates a storm when his friends want some tea made by him.
