Megyn Kelly slams her win despite admitting she didn’t watch the show
Conservative media personality Megyn Kelly slammed Amy Poehler’s win in the newly created Best Podcast category at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, calling the result “shameful and disrespectful” and questioning the meaning of the award.
Poehler’s Good Hang with Amy Poehler took home the inaugural Golden Globe for Best Podcast at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, a category introduced to recognize the growing influence of podcasting in entertainment.
The show beat out many popular contenders, including Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, SmartLess, The Mel Robbins Podcast and NPR’s Up First.
During a fiery segment on her digital talk show, The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly blasted the podcast category itself and Poehler’s win despite admitting she didn’t attend the ceremony.
He suggested that the Golden Globes gave the award to “one of their own,” implying that Poehler’s standing in the industry played a role in the outcome. “Amy Poehler won. That’s not a shock, they gave it to one of their own,” Kelly quipped, before criticizing the show’s content.
Kelly also took part in a specific interview from Poehler’s podcast in which Poehler incorrectly referenced actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s filmography. “Amy Poehler thought Gwyneth Paltrow was on Cold Mountain, which she wasn’t,” Kelly said, calling the moment “embarrassing and disrespectful” and arguing it undermined the podcast’s credibility as an award-winning program.
In addition to her criticism on Poehler’s podcast, Kelly re-examined her relationship with the charge, claiming that her show was in contention for the award but that she withdrew because she objected to the process.
He said he did not want to participate in the behind-the-scenes campaigning or promotional efforts allegedly expected of the nominees, describing that expectation as a “nightmare” and expressing disdain for the culture of the awards.
Kelly’s comments were part of a wider tirade aimed at other aspects of the Golden Globes, including some jokes made during the ceremony and other celebrities’ acceptance speeches.
Poehler, meanwhile, addressed the significance of her win during her acceptance speech, expressing respect for the medium and its nominees, and framing the show as an effort to bring “love and laughter” to the world.
