Ai ‘nudify’ blackmail applications minors rising to number

After a Kedaki teenager who died of suicide this year, his parents discovered that he had received threatening texts that required $ 3,000 to suppress a naked image created by AI, the AFP said.

The tragedy emphasizes how much so-called Sextation scams targeted by children are developing around the world, especially by rapidly multiplying “naked” applications-AI workshops that digitally remove clothes or create sexual images.

Elias Heacock, 16, was just one of the thousands of American minors aimed at such a digital blackmail, which prompted calls for more action from technological platforms and regulators.

His parents told us media that his text messages ordered to pay or a seemingly naked photo created by AI would be sent to his family and friends.

“People who are after our children are well organized,” said John Burnett, the boy’s father, in an interview with News CBS.

“They are well funded and relentless. They do not need the photos to be real. They can create whatever they want and then use it to blackmail the child.”

US researchers saw the case, which is coming as non -unnatural applications – which have increased in prominent celebrities – are increasingly weapons against children.

The FBI has reported a “frightening increase” in cases of sextortion aimed at our minors, with victims usually male between ages 14 and 17. The threat has led to a “alarming number of suicides”, the organization warned.

In a recent study, Thorn, a non -profit organization that focused on prevention of online children, found that six percent of US adolescents were a direct victim of naked Deepfake.

“Reports on false and deepfakes – many of which are created using these” naked “services – seem to be closely linked to economic sextle reports or blackmail with sexually clear images,” said the British Watchdog Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) in a report last year.

“The perpetrators no longer need to go to familiar images of children, because images that are convincing enough to be harmful – perhaps even as harmful as real images in some cases – can be produced using genetic AI.”

The IWF identified a “pedophile guide” developed by the predators who explicitly encouraged the perpetrators to use nakedness tools to create material to blackmail children. The driver’s author claimed to have successfully expressed about 13 years girls.

Tools are a profitable business.

A new analysis of the 85 websites selling naked services have found that it may be worth collectively up to $ 36 million per year.
