Pakistani actress Zhalay Sarhadi has disputed the recent claims of playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, who claimed to be the victim of a honey trap scheme.
During a recent podcast appearance, Sarhadi discussed the leaked videos with Qamar, where she questioned the circumstances under which the videos were made.
He pointed out that both Qamar and the accused, Aamna Arooj, claimed that the videos were made under duress with guns pointed at them, but no such evidence of violence was visible in the footage.
Sarhadi further questioned why, if Qamar was under threat, the videos were not clear and why they were taken using hidden cameras.
He argued that in a typical ransom situation, kidnappers simply make videos with clear demands, unlike the blurry and clandestine footage released in Qamar’s case.
He stressed that none of the leaked videos suggest that Qamar was held at gunpoint, as he claimed.
The controversy kept Qamar in the headlines after he was allegedly targeted by a criminal gang and later released after paying a ransom.
The prime suspect in the case had previously said they were in possession of two videos of Qamar, each about an hour and a half long.
The suspect later leaked the video in two parts, showing Qamar making out with a woman.
Honey-trap or blackmail?
While playwright Khalilur Rehman claims he was caught in a honey trap case, the lawyer of the woman he has accused claims it is more of an extortion case.
According to a statement given earlier by Amna Urooj’s lawyer, Khalil started blackmailing Amna Arooj a month before the incident, claiming to be in possession of compromising photos taken in locker rooms.
Initially, Qamar’s manager contacted Amna, a real estate dealer who also creates promotional videos and advertisements, under the guise of work.
However, the nature of their communication soon turned sinister, according to the lawyer. Qamar reportedly suggested that he could help Amna advance in the entertainment industry, but only if she met his personal demands.
The lawyer further disclosed that these interactions, including incriminating conversations, are allegedly available on a mobile phone accessed by police officers, including DIG, DSP and investigating officer Imran Yousuf.
Amna Arooj’s lawyer claimed that Qamar had already met her twice and then insisted on another meeting, where he allegedly arrived drunk. During this meeting, Qamar allegedly pressured Amna into physical intercourse, threatening to leak the photos if she refused.
This meeting took a turn when Hasan Shah, identified as the mastermind of the alleged gang, arrived. Despite Amna’s attempts to intervene, Shah warned her of dire consequences if she interfered.
The situation escalated when both Amna and Khalil were allegedly kidnapped by Hasan Shah, but Amna did not witness what happened next. Both were eventually released.
After being met by Amna’s lawyer, she accused the police of torture, claiming she was slapped, given electric shocks and forced to give a statement declaring the incident a honey trap.
Moreover, this is not the first time that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is in the news. Previously, Qamar’s comments on women and infidelity have caused quite a stir in the showbiz industry and the public.
His outspoken nature and controversial statements have often landed him in the media spotlight, sparking debate across the country.
However, his reputation remains divisive, with ongoing debate about his influence on Pakistani culture and society.
