Reunion in standby mode
While we can soon see the band together on paper, all members are currently pursuing individual activities. J-Hope is on the street with his solo world tour, Hope on stage, which began in Osaka in February. Jin, who recently invited to the scene for the first time from his military exemption, is preparing to follow his example with his own solo world tour.
Most of the members are in the middle of their compulsory military service, which is expected to be completed later this year to allow a complete team reunification. Jin and J-Hope completed their service last June and October respectively.
In October 2022, the group’s Music Hit Big Hit announced that all members would recruit for military service in accordance with South Korean laws. The news came after global uncertainty about the subject, with many wondering if the Megastars would receive a special discharge due to their artistic achievements.
Facing shareholders’ financial concerns, Hybe Park Jiwon’s chief executive ensured in a letter that the content was designed in advance to spread the pause period. “We have always realized the possibility of compulsory military service and for a long time we have been preparing to be ready for this moment,” he wrote.
Park added: “In the short term, individual activities for many of the members are planned in the first half of 2023 and we have secured in advance content, which will allow BTS to continue their commitment with fans to the foreseen future.”
In the same month, Septet performed a free large -scale concert in Busan, South Korea. The concert, still named to come, was held to support the city’s contribution to the 2030 world exhibition.
The concert movie was released on OTT platforms in November 2023. It features 19 of the band’s successes, including Butter, Run and Mic Drop.
