West Indies took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, bowling Pakistan out for 120 in pursuit of 211 at Tarouba. Jayden Seales returned five for 20. Babar Azam, in his first Test back as captain, was left unbeaten on 58 — the only Pakistan batter to pass 25.

West Indies completed a 90-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Tarouba on Tuesday, dismissing the visitors for 120 while defending a target of 211 to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series (Geo News).

Pakistan resumed after tea at 114 for nine, with Babar Azam and number eleven Mohammad Abbas unbeaten on 53 and 22. They added only six more before Jayden Seales trapped Abbas lbw in the second over after the interval.

Babar finished as Pakistan’s top scorer with an unbeaten 58 from 107 deliveries. Abbas made a defiant 23 from 33 balls. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan was the only other Pakistan batter to reach double figures, scoring 11 in a 21-run fourth-wicket stand with his captain before Justin Greaves bowled him in the sixth over after tea.

Seales was the difference, returning five for 20 from 14.2 overs in the second innings. Kemar Roach and Greaves took two wickets apiece and Shamar Joseph one.

The defeat is a poor start to Babar Azam’s return as Test captain. He replaced Shan Masood after a 2-0 series loss in Bangladesh, and his side has now been beaten inside four days at a venue staging its first Test.

Masood had given Pakistan the better of the first innings with 88, but the batting failed twice after that. The second Test begins at Port of Spain on August 2. Both matches count toward the 2025–2027 World Test Championship cycle.
