Islamabad:

The racing lessee has paid a record of $ 391 billion in income tax during nine months of this year, a very discreet taxation, where 10% of the total income tax collected by Pakistan is now paid by employees.

Compared to the RS10 that the wage class was paid in taxes during July-March by every RS100, merchants with blue eyes simply contributed 60 paisa.

Income tax payments during the nine -month period of this year were 391 billion Rs, $ 23 billion more than the total income tax paid during the 12 -month period of the previous financial year, according to the provisional estimates of collection.

During the July-March period, the FBR had raised 4.1 trillion Rs on total income tax. Payments by leased people were only almost 10%, showing how the marginalized acoustic section is overloaded by the government. Last year, that reason was 7.5%.

The government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had targeted additional 75 billion RS income tax from the classroom for the full financial year 2024-25. However, the number has already exceeded the RS140 billion, with three months still remaining in use. The income tax from the employees’ category over the last nine months has increased by 56% compared to the previous year.

Last year, the salaried class paid 368 billion Rs in taxes. However, despite this, where leased people are taxed on their gross income without adjustments to expenditure, the government did not increase the issue of relieving this burden during its recent talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“We are thinking of alternatives to reduce the burden of the leased class without at the time of the progressiveness of taxation,” said Dr. Najeeb Memon, a FBR spokesman.

The IMF team arrives in Pakistan on May 14th to steal the next budget budget before appearing at the National Assembly around June 4, according to sources. The IMF team will stay until May 23.

Sources said the highest collection of taxes from leased people could be a reason to not significantly reduce tax rates in the following financial year due to the significant impact of revenue.

Unlike the 391 billion Rs paid by the employees, retailers, mainly non -registered, contributed only to 26 billion Rs due to withholding income tax in their markets. The amount of the tax paid by the traders in accordance with Article 236-H was 1.420% less than taxes paid by employees.

Compared to any RS10 that the wage class contributed to taxes, retailers only paid 60 Paisa.

In addition, wholesalers and distributors also paid 17.5 billion billion taxes in nine months and almost half of them had not been recorded with the FBR, sources said.

Prime Minister Sharif could not respond to his promise to collect taxes from retailers. The IMF can ask Pakistan to show reliable alternative tax means to offset the impact of any tax cuts on the wage class.

In the budget, the government had imposed a 2.5% tax withholding on traders, hoping that this would force them to come to the tax system. Although the increase in percentage has helped to collect Rs13.3 billions more than traders, but the intended goal could not be achieved. Traders have passed the cost of additional tax to final consumers.

Last June, the government significantly increased the tax burden on employees by reducing the number of tax plates, disproportionately affecting the middle and higher middle income groups. The highest tax rate of 35% is now applied to those who earn Rs 443,000 per month, with an additional 10% additional, bringing the total tax rate to 38.5% for the highest plate.

The details showed that non -corporate employees in the industry paid $ 166 billion in income this year, which is higher by 50 billion Rs or 43%. Corporate officials paid $ 117 billion in RS income tax, also higher by 40 billion Rs or 52%.

Employees of the provincial governments paid taxes of 69 billion Rs, who increased by 34 billion RSS or 103%. Federal government officials paid 39 billion Rs, higher by 15 billion Rs or 65%.

For the current use, the IMF had given a tax target of RS12.97 trillions in FBR, which has already maintained 714 billion RS shortages in nine months shortcomings.

The IMF has reduced the target to RS12.3 trillion, but FBB’s internal estimates suggest that the collection may remain in the RS11.7 trillion region. This is despite the fact that the government has imposed RS1.3 trillion on additional budget taxes.

The FBR is of the view that due to the lower than the estimated economic growth and inflation, its collection took a significant blow.
