Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr usyk are in negotiations for a possible period of heavyweight integration at Wembley Stadium on July 12, with the undisputed title on the line.
Champion IBF Daniel Dubois and WBA (Super), WBO and WBC title-owner Oleksandr usyk are in talks about a blockbuster rematch that will house an undisputed heavyweight champion.
USYK, 38, remains undefeated in 23 professional battles and has previously stopped Dubois at their meeting in August 2023. For Dubois, 27, a rematch represents not only a shot in revenge, but an opportunity to make the story as the first British fighter.
Since the loss of USYK, Dubois has recorded three consecutive knockout wins, confirming his situation as one of the growing forces of the department. However, no contracts have been signed and if the negotiations collapses, the IBF will order Dubois to face the compulsory challenge Derek Chisora, who has fought 49 times in his career.
The possible conflict of Wembley will take place during a busy sports weekend. Katie Taylor faces Amanda Serrano in New York on July 11, Wimbledon ends on July 13 and is also underway by the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
USYK, who previously consolidated the Cruiserweight department, has reported plans to withdraw after two more matches. The Ukrainian resigned from the IBF title in front of his scheduled rematch with Tyson Fury in December, which did not proceed. He recently fought in May, defeating Fury to pinch his situation as a top fighter of division.
Dubois was initially set to defend the IBF zone against Joseph Parker in February, but the disease forced his retirement during the week of race.
No Briton had the undisputed title of heavyweight in the era of the four zones. The last one consolidated by the section was Lennox Lewis in 1999, before the current sanctions structure came into force.
