The United States on Thursday again executed its veto and ruled out a United Nations Security Council to cease fire in Gaza, protecting its ally in Israel from significant diplomatic pressure.
The other 14 members of the Council supported the resolution, which began in August in response to the official statement of the UN famine after nearly two years of the Israeli war in Hamas in Palestinian territory.
The vote came as the Israeli tanks and jet jet struck the city of Gaza, the goal of a large new offensive land, forcing the Palestinians to leave south.
The text of the resolution observed by AFP had called for “immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza respected by all parts” as well as the immediate and unconditional release of hostages.
The United States has repeatedly rejected this approach many times, more recently in June, when it used its veto to support Israel.

“Let this resolution send a clear message, a message that the Security Council does not turn its back on hungry citizens, hostages and demand for a ceasefire,” Danish ambassador Christina Lassen said before voting.
“A generation is in danger of losing not only war – but also hunger and despair. In the meantime, Israel has expanded its military operation in the city of Gaza, further deepening the suffering of citizens as a result.
“This is this destructive situation, this humanitarian and human failure that forced us to act today.”

The previous veto of the US triggered an unusual anger demonstration of the other 14 members of the Council, which are increasingly vocals in their frustration for their apparent inability to push Israel to stop the suffering of Gaza residents.
For the first time on Tuesday, an International Research Committee mentioned by UN gave its independent analysis, accusing Israel of committing a “genocide” in Gaza since October 2023 with the intention of “destroying” the Palestinians.
The issue will be a central element at the next week’s annual UN Summit in New York. “The resolutions against Israel will not release the hostages and will not bring security to the region,” Israeli ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, told the vote.
“Israel will continue to fight in Hamas and protect its citizens, even if the Security Council prefers to close the eyes of terrorism.”
