US President Donald Trump responded to Saturday’s anti-Trump “No Kings” protests across the US in his typically aggressive style by posting an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform depicting him as a king.

He is shown wearing a crown and piloting a fighter jet that throws dirt at anti-Trump protesters, staining their clothes and causing chaos in the crowd.

Huge crowds took to the streets in all 50 US states in “No Kings” protests on Saturday, venting their anger at President Trump’s hard-line policies, which Republicans derided as “Hate America” protests.

Organizers said seven million people marched in protests from New York to Los Angeles, with demonstrations breaking out in small towns across the US heartland, even near Trump’s Florida home.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, echoed a common chorus of his party on Friday, calling the No Kings protests “the rallying cry of hate in America.”

Protesters of all ages took to the streets en masse for “No Kings” rallies across the United States on Saturday, denouncing what they see as US President Donald Trump’s authoritarian tendencies and rampant corruption.

Organizers expected millions of people to turn out by day’s end for more than 2,600 planned rallies in major cities, small towns and suburbs, challenging an agenda under Trump that has reshaped the government and overhauled democratic rules at an unprecedented speed since he took office in January.

Protesters packed New York’s Times Square, where police said they made “zero protest-related arrests” even as more than 100,000 people gathered peacefully across the five boroughs.

Events in Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, and Seattle also drew crowds that each seemed to include thousands, if not tens of thousands, of people.

On the West Coast, more than a dozen rallies were held around the Los Angeles area, including the main venue downtown. In Seattle, protesters filled a parade route that stretched more than a mile from downtown through Seattle Center Square around the city’s landmark Space Needle. More than 25,000 people demonstrated peacefully in San Diego, police said.

The protests reflected growing concern among many Americans, particularly on the ideological left, with developments such as the criminal prosecution of Trump’s political enemies, a militarized crackdown on immigration and the deployment of National Guard troops to US cities.

Trump has said little about Saturday’s protests. But in an interview with Fox Business broadcast on Friday, he said “they refer to me as a king – I’m not a king”.

Saturday’s protests were intended to build on the momentum gained by more than 2,000 “No Kings” demonstrations organized on June 14, which coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday and a rare military parade in Washington.
