  • Legislators want votes to control Trump’s military actions in Iran.
  • Massie, Kaine says there was no urgent need for US attacks.
  • Say that Trump’s unilateral action separates the Maga movement.

Washington: Some democratic and Republican legislators on Sunday called on Congress to enhance the use of President Donald Trump’s military force in Iran and to prevent us from participating in a deeper conflict in the Middle East.

With Republican leaders in the Senate and the House of Representatives who strongly support US attacks on basic Iranian nuclear spaces, it seemed unlikely any resolution claiming that Congress’s power would declare the war and limiting their actions.

Virginia’s US Democratic Senator Tim Kaine said he is expecting to force the Senate to vote this week about his measure that requires Trump to end hostilities against Iran, unless expressly authorized by a war statement. Republican spokeswoman Thomas Massie of Kentak and California’s Democratic Republican spokesman said they want voting for similar legislation that they have introduced to the body.

“This is the American by jumping in a war of choice at Donald Trump’s exhortation, with no urgent national security interests for the United States to act in this way, especially without discussion and vote in Congress,” Kaine told the CBS program “Face the Nation”.

The White House did not respond to a request for comments on criticism by legislators.

Corps President Mike Johnson and Senate majority leader John Thune were also alerted to US military action ahead of time, according to sources familiar with the issue. Members of Congress are expected to be informed on Tuesday.

Thune’s office refused to comment on Kaine’s measure.

Attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities on Saturday were divided by Trump’s populist Maga movement, with some leaders gathering behind the president and others demanding the end of hostilities following the so -called “Forever Wars” in Iraq and Iraq.

“I represent part of the coalition that elected President Trump. We were tired of endless cities,” Massie told CBS. “We had promised that we would put our veterans, immigration policies and infrastructure first.”

Massie and Kaine said there was no urgent need to require Trump to act unilaterally.

“There was no imminent threat to the United States,” Massie said. “We have not been updated.”

Information reports and analysts have come to different conclusions about how close Iran was to build a nuclear bomb. National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard said Friday that the US had intelligence that Iran should decide to do so, could build a nuclear weapon in weeks or months. US officials say they do not believe that Iran has decided to make a bomb.

Iran claims that its nuclear ambitions are peaceful and focus on energy production and medical research. However, his program, which began in the late 1950s with US support, has fallen in recent years, with the increase in Tehran enrichment to 60%, just below the quality of 90%weapons and the restriction of international inspectors’ access to its locations.

Trump pledged Sunday to support Massie’s main challenge in the 2026 interim elections, saying that Central Congress’s criticism of Iran’s attack and opposition to Trump’s legislative efforts proved that he was not aligned with the new base.

“Maga is not about lazy, great, non -productive politicians, of whom Thomas Massie is definitely one,” Trump Social told Truth.

Republicans shout different views

Another faithful of Trump, a spokesman for Marjorie Taylor Greek, also criticized Trump’s decision on Sunday, but insisted he was not unfaithful.

“I can also support President Trump and his great administration in many of the great things they do while disagreeing with Iran’s bombing and engaging in a hot war that started Israel,” the Georgian Republican writes in X.

Other Trump allies returned to allegations that his actions against Iran have violated the US Constitution and a federal law that restricts unilateral action by a president in terms of attack on the United States.

“He had all the power he needed under the Constitution, he is wrong,” said Senator Lindsey Graham, a stable ally of Trump who has long been a leading voice on US foreign policy issues in Congress.

“If you do not like what the president does in terms of war, you can cut funding,” the South Carolina Republican said in the NBC’s Meet the Press program.

Attacks on Iran generally created awards by Republican legislators who said the operation had put back Iran’s ability to obtain a nuclear weapon.

“The president made the right call and did what he had to do,” Johnson said in a position on X late on Saturday. “The commander’s leader assessed that the forthcoming danger exceeds the time it would take to act the Congress.”

The US Constitution divides war powers in the federal government, making the president the leader of the Armed Forces, but letting the exclusive power declare war on Congress. The balance has shifted, with Congress resigning from the use of military power to presidents in both parties in recent years.

But the Democrats said it was too early to find out if the mission had achieved, warning that Iran could move its nuclear material to other areas away from US targets.

“The tragedy in this country is that we continue to enter these overseas wars. We are triumphantly declaring that the mission is being completed the next day and then we have been left with Americans with the consequences for decades,” Khanna told CBS.
