US Disease Control and Prevention Centers and other Federal Health Services on Friday occupied the websites with information on HIV statistics and other data to comply with Trump’s management commands on identity and gender diversity, creating concerns between physicians and patient supporters.
CDC websites that appear to have been removed include stats for HIV virus between transsexuals and data on health inequalities between homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals. A database monitoring behavior that increases youth health risks was offline.
Earlier this month, President Donald Trump ordered the federal government to recognize exclusively male and female sex and to eliminate diversity, shares and inclusion programs.
The Personnel Administration Office gave the organizations more specific instructions on how to comply with orders in a note 29 January, saying they will be completed from 5 pm Et (2200gmt) on January 31.
It stipulates that organisms must end all programs that promote or reflect “gender ideology” by recognizing a self -determined gender identity rather than biological sex. Measures include abolishing gender identity reports on the internet.
A representative of the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the CDC, said that changes to websites follow these instructions.
“There is a lot of work that is happening at the agency to comply,” said a source that was not authorized to speak publicly, adding that the CDC “abolishes anything on the website that does not support this executive order.”
CDC website deletions include pages of HIV in the United States in general, as well as pages with HIV statistics in Spanish/Latinos, women, age and race and nationality.
The elimination of such data “creates a dangerous gap in scientific information and data on monitoring and response to disease outbreaks,” said the company of infectious diseases of America and the HIV Medical Union in a joint statement.
For example, a page with information about how people can get HIV tests was offline on Friday, according to the Internet Archive, as well as a Page for Doctors with information on HIV testing and the treatment of patients.
“This is very worrying,” said John Peller, head of the AIDS Chicago Foundation. “In many cases, basic health information becomes dark.”
Timothy Jackson, senior policy manager and defense in the team, said they are under the CDC website and printing information used to educate human HIV virus that may not be accessible after Friday.
Also missing from the CDC website was the youth risk surveillance system, which monitors tendencies in tobacco use, teenage pregnancy, unsafe sexual behavior and other aspects of adolescent health.
At National Institutes of Health, a senior employee this week urged the leaders of the service to refuse to apply Trump’s guidance on an email to Nih Matthew Memoli and other top officials who were considered Reuters.
The employee, Nate, director of NIH’s executive office, said Trump’s commands contradict NIH years of research and findings on sexuality and sex.
“By combining these orders, we will discredit the contributions made to the NIH mission by Trans and Intersex members of our staff and the contributions of trans and intesex citizens to our society,” he wrote.
“These policies will lead to mental health crises or worse for tens of thousands of Americans who contribute productively to our communities.”
