US airlines at risk as global Middle East bypass

Doha:

US surfaces in Iran’s nuclear regions could increase the threat to US agencies in the region, an organization that monitors the dangers of flight it warned on Sunday, as some airlines canceled flights to and from Dubai and Doha.

Airlines continued to avoid large parts of the Middle East due to rocket exchanges between Israel and Iran, the latest turmoil to travel to the area.

Singapore Airlines said it canceled flights from Singapore to Dubai after a security assessment and British Airways canceled flights to and from Dubai and Doha.

Safe airspace, a website run by Opsgroup, said US attacks on Iran can increase the risks to US exploitation bodies in the region.

“While there were no specific threats against Civil Aviation, Iran has previously warned that it would oppose attack US military interests in the Middle East – either directly or through proxies such as Hezbollah,” the safe airspace said.

Meanwhile, the Flightradar24 flight monitoring site said the airlines maintained flight diversions across the area. Her website showed that airlines were not flying over Iran, Iraq, Syria and Israel.

They have chosen routes such as the North through the Caspian Sea or South through Egypt and Saudi Arabia, even if they mean higher fuel and crew costs and longer flight times.

Rockets and dirty in a growing number of conflict zones represent a high risk for airline traffic.

In the nine days since Israel attacked Iran, carriers have suspended flights to destinations in the affected countries.

With Russia’s and Ukraine airspace closing also due to the war, the Middle East has become a more important route for flights between Europe and Asia.

Airlines are also concerned about a possible rise in oil prices after US attacks, which will increase the cost of fuel jet.

In the days before US strikes, American Airlines suspended flights to Qatar and United Airlines did the same with flights to Dubai.

Safe airspace said the risks of airspace could now expand to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

“We continue to advise a high degree of attention at the moment,” he said.

BA and Singapore Airlines cancellations were only for Sunday, but Singapore said other flights between Singapore and Dubai could be affected as the situation remains “fluid”.

BA, which belongs to IAG, said customers are scheduled to travel to Dubai from now on June 24 and Doha can redefine until July 6, free.
