- It reports that Putin praised US mediation in world conflicts.
- Again he complains that he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
- He says he likes to stop wars, but he also has to run the US.
US President Donald Trump said he has defused eight global conflicts in the past eight months, citing Pakistan-India and Gaza, and called the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict “easy” to resolve during talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
“…although I understand that Pakistan has attacked, or that an attack is happening with Afghanistan. That’s easy for me to solve if I have to solve it,” the US president said. He said that while he was in charge of the US administration, he really enjoyed ending wars and bringing peace to conflict zones.
He said that while he was in charge of the US administration, he really enjoyed ending wars and bringing peace to conflict zones.
“All these wars had nothing to do with us, but I saved tens of millions of lives. The Prime Minister of Pakistan said I saved millions of lives by interceding in Pakistan, and you see Pakistan and India as an example. That would be bad, two nuclear nations, right?” he said.
“I have resolved eight conflicts, including the Middle East [Ukraine-Russia] I thought it would be one of the easiest. [Russian President Vladimir] Putin mentioned yesterday — Armenia, you know, all the different wars.”
He said it was amazing, but the big surprise we managed to sort out was the Middle East.
Zelensky came to Washington seeking weapons to bolster his country’s forces in Ukraine’s three-year conflict with Russia. But Trump frequently highlighted the peace summit with Putin that took place a few weeks earlier as he and Zelensky spoke to reporters.
That meeting was hurriedly convened on Thursday, making it clear that Trump is still intent on brokering a peace deal and taking the wind out of Zelensky’s missile pitch.
Before his private lunchtime meeting with Zelensky, Trump said the two leaders would discuss his call with Putin the day before. He again reiterated his belief that his efforts deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
“It’s funny how people say if you take it, every time I do one, they forget about him. I solved eight wars. Go to Rwanda and Congo. Talk about India and Pakistan.”
“Look at Thailand. Every time I solve one, they say, ‘If you solve the next one, you’ll get the Nobel Prize.'” I didn’t get a Nobel Prize.
“As someone understood, who is a very nice woman, very nice. I don’t know who she is, but she was very generous,” Trump said.
Solving wars
Last week, Trump said he was aware of the escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, claiming he would deal with the situation once he returned from the Middle East as he described himself as “good at solving wars”.
“This will be the eighth war I’ve solved, and I hear there’s a war going on now between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, I’ll have to wait until I get back. I’m doing another one. Because I’m good at solving wars,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One as he departed Washington for Israel.
“Think about India, Pakistan. Think about some of the wars that have been going on for years. We’ve had a war for 31, one for 32, one for 37 years, with millions of people killed in each country, and I finished all of them, for the most part, in a day. It’s pretty good…” he added.
“Man of Peace”
Addressing a press conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, after the signing of the Gaza peace agreement, Prime Minister Shehbaz described President Trump as a “genuine man of peace” who had worked tirelessly and tirelessly to end world conflicts, including the war in Gaza.
Joined by the US president and other world leaders, the prime minister said the world was witnessing “one of the greatest days in modern history”.
“He brought peace not only to South Asia, saving millions of lives, but also to the Middle East through his efforts in Gaza.”
The prime minister noted that peace was achieved after months of tireless diplomatic efforts under President Trump, who has made the world “a place to live in peace and prosperity.”
He hailed Trump as “the man the world needed most right now,” adding that history will remember him as the leader who “stopped seven and today eight wars.”
“If it wasn’t for this gentleman [Trump],” said Shehbaz, “a full-scale war between two nuclear powers could have broken out. His timely intervention prevented the disaster.”
The prime minister concluded by saying that Trump’s “visionary and exemplary leadership” had made him a symbol of hope and peace for the world and that his name “will remain in golden words”.
