US President Donald Trump has signed regulations to guide the executive order for the private industry, including eliminating certain environmental revisions, in a move that may thank his former adviser Elon Musk.
The executive order, which said it was aimed at “” increasing “the increase in the number of space launches in the United States, was described by an environmental group as” reckless “.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has spoken several space missions, including sending people to the moon and Mars.
Moon and Mars missions are designed to take a stroll through the Musk Private Spacex Starship missile.
However, Starship had a series of failures, with the latest routine test ending in a fiery explosion in June.
SpaceX dominates the global launch market, with the rockets of various size blasted more than 130 times last year-and that number seems to go up after Trump’s executive command.
“It is the United States policy to strengthen American splendor in space, allowing a competitive launch market and virtually increasing Cadence Launch Launch” by 2030, the mandate to read.
The change could benefit Musk, who has long supported the liberation of the space industry. The richest man in the world was previously a close to Trump’s adviser before the couple had a dramatic, public falling in July.
The executive also called on the Sean Duffy Transport Secretary – who was in the signature and is currently a NAS administrator – “to eliminate or speed up the environmental reviews of the Transport Department” for launches.
SpaceX has repeatedly been criticized for the environmental impact on locations where the Starship, the largest and most powerful rocket in history, explodes.
Trump’s non -profit center for Trump’s biological diversity said Trump’s new executive “paves the way for the huge destruction of protected plants and animals”.
“This reckless class endangers people and wildlife from private companies starting giant missiles that often explode and cause disasters in the surrounding areas,” said Jared Margolis of the center.
Musk’s dreams of colonization of Mars are based on the success of Starship and SpaceX bets that “fails quickly, learns quickly” will ultimately perform.
The Federal Aviation Administration has approved an increase in annual Starship missile launches from five to 25 in early May, stating that the increased frequency would not adversely affect the environment.
