London: US President Donald Trump arrived in Britain on Tuesday for an unprecedented second state visit, with the United Kingdom government circulating a royal red carpet, welcoming to win the Mercurial leader.
“Many things here warm my heart,” the 79 -year -old Republican told reporters after arrived with First Lady Melania Trump. “It’s a very special place.”
King Charles III will host Trump at the Windsor Castle for a rich symposium and transport ride on Wednesday, before Trump meets Prime Minister Keir Starmer in his country on Thursday.
In a sign of the procession and event, a honor guard greeted the trump as they left the Air Force at Stansted Airport near London.
Trump then expressed his admiration for the British monarch.
“He has been my friend for a long time, and everyone respects him and love him,” Trump said as he arrived at Winfield House, the US ambassador in London, where he will spend the night.
“Tomorrow will be a very big day.”
Trump is the first US president to be invited for two government visits, after Queen Elizabeth II has been hosted during his last term in 2019-as Britain is trying to maintain the so-called special relationship alive.
The British government was unexpected for its efforts to reach the right side of Trump, whose mother was Scottish and holding a series of golf courses in the United Kingdom.
Heavy security
But the British public will be kept away from Trump, with the visit completely behind closed doors and heavy security.
A large anti-Trump demonstration was called to London on Wednesday, while protesters show images of Trump and condemned sex perpetrator Jeffrey Epstein to Windsor Castle Towers late Tuesday.
The shadow of the Epstein scandal has hanged over Trump for weeks after its administration refused to release records on the matter.
It is also involved in British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who removed his ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson on the eve of the visit over Epstein’s envoy.
However, the Starmer government is based on the clear scale of the state visit to keep Trump inside, despite its unpredictable above everything, from invoices to Ukraine and Gaza.
At Windsor on Wednesday, Trump will take a ritual ritual with transport and a flypast from both the United Kingdom and the American jet jets in what officials call the biggest military performance for a state.
In the evening, King Charles will host Trump for a rich state -run dinner where both men will give speeches.
Trump can also enjoy the royal part of the visit as an opportunity to escape a hectic period at home, where the murder of right -wing activist Charlie Kirk has caused turmoil.
‘New heights’
Politics will again take over on Thursday, when Starmer hosts Trump in his country’s home checkers for commercially centered talks and the wars of Ukraine and Gaza.
The visit has been dated to align with announcements of several investment in Britain – the latter is a Microsoft promise to spend $ 30 billion for four years.
Starmer needs the visit to go well after a miserable a few days in which some of his labor party have questioned whether he may remain as a leader in Mandelson’s resignation.
Downing Street said Trump’s visit would see the “unbreakable friendship” between countries “are reaching new heights.”
The visit is “a huge moment for both” men, said Evie Aspinall, director of the British Foreign Policy Think-Tank team.
“For Trump, the state visit is an opportunity to enjoy the procession and the ceremony it loves,” he told AFP.
“For Starmer, the visit is an opportunity to distract from domestic discontent and shift the spotlight to international issues where it was more successful.”
