Washington: US President Donald Trump has created a new energy board to tackle the increasing electricity requirements, with the aim of enhancing the country’s position in artificial rivalry of intelligence with China.
“We will be the dominant energy like no one else, and this does not even cover the electricity we are going to produce for all AI plants,” Trump told reporters as he signed the order.
“They need at least twice the electricity we have now,” he added.
Trump’s interior minister, Doug Burgum, who also watched the signature, said: “The US is in Ai Args match with China. The only way we win is more electricity.”
According to the White House, the Council will coordinate energy policy between federal organizations and smooth out the license, production and distribution of various energy resources.
The move is aligned with Trump’s campaign promise to “puncture, baby, drill”, enhancing domestic oil and gas production and reversing any concerns from Biden’s administration about carbon emissions or impact on the climate.
The goal is also to tackle the potential rising costs of Trump’s trade wars, which could see energy prices to increase when energy imports or US exports are affected by invoices.
The AI industry requirements for electricity are acute, with data servers already putting a heavy pressure on the country’s excessive power supply.
The supply of electricity to the United States suffered from chronic under -representation, exacerbated by the aging of the nuclear units taken offline.
Technology CEOs have exerted a strong pressure on Trump’s administration to focus on the need for power to meet their AI requirements.
By 2028, officials expect technology companies to have AI energy needs of up to five gigawatts – enough to supply about five million homes.
