Warren: President Donald Trump visited Michigan on Tuesday to mark the first 100 days of his new term with two events, including a big evening race.

While stressing the early achievements of his administration, concerns about the economy and his handling remain high among many Americans.

Speaking briefly on a base of the National Guard, Trump interrupted the investment of his administration in defense and praised the foreign policy records of his first administration, from 2017 to 2021.

He said Defense Minister Pete Hegseth did a “great job”, without reporting recent disclosures that he discussed extremely sensitive military information with several personal acquaintances.

And, at a relatively rare moment of the bilateral, the president ruled the praise to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Democrat. He said he had played a key role in “saving” the Detroit National Guard of Selfridge Air Northeast, where local media reported concerns about the future of the base last year.

“I will support a $ 1 trillion investment in our national defense,” Trump said, speaking before dozens of troops, as well as Whitmer and Hegseth.

During the speech, he said the base on selfridge would receive 21 jets Boeing F-15X. Whitmer said in a statement that the move secured the base of the base and was a “huge, bilateral victory for Michigan” to protect jobs.

At Air Force One earlier on Tuesday, Trump signed a mandate to soften his car invoice hit with a mixture of credits and relief from other contributions. Meanwhile, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick told CNBC that he had reached an agreement with a foreign power, which he refused to name, which should permanently facilitate “mutual” Trump invoices to impose.

Trump later spoke on a night in Warren, near Detroit. This, the biggest, since he took over the post on January 20, was an opportunity for him to deal with what his administration sees as his main achievements in the first months of his second non -successive term.

The event will probably be an opportunity for the president to reassure voters to the politically competitive automation status that he is a good financial manager.

A three -day Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Sunday showed that 42% of respondents approved Trump’s performance so far, while 53% was rejected. This is under approval 47% in the Reuters/Ipsos poll in January.

The share of the respondents who approved Trump’s financial management was only 36% in the latest survey, the lowest level in his current term or in the presidency of 2017-2021.

Fears of a recession have increased in recent weeks, as Trump has begun a world trade war, hiking invoices so high that economists can warn that trade with certain countries – mainly China – could almost grind. Movements have shaken investors and companies.
