- The troops of the National Guard are gathered outside of Chicago despite the opposition.
- The former head of the FBI who is due to court to face criminal charges.
Chicago/Washington: US President Donald Trump called on the prison of the Mayor of Chicago and the Governor of Illinois, both Democrats, as his administration prepared to deploy military troops on the streets of the third largest American city.
Neither Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson nor the Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, have been accused of criminal injustices, although both have emerged as prominent opponents of the suppression of Trump’s immigration and the development of national troops in democratic cities.
Trump’s request to imprison the two elected officials comes as another high -profile political opponent, former FBI director James Comey, had to appear in court to face criminal charges that have been widely criticized as weak.
Trump often asked to imprison his opponents since he first entered politics in 2015, but Comey is the first to face the prosecution.
On the social media platform, Trump accused Johnson and Pritzker of failing to protect the immigration officers operating in Chicago.
“The Mayor of Chicago must be in prison because he also does not protect the ice officers! Governor Pritzker!” Trump wrote, referring to ICE immigration and customs staff.
Johnson signed an executive mandate on Monday, creating a “free ice zone” prohibiting federal immigration agents from using real estate in their business.
“This is not the first time Trump has tried to have a black man unjustly arrested. I am not going anywhere,” he told the social media.
Pritzker, a potential candidate for Presidential Democratic 2028, also said he would not retreat. “Trump is now calling for the arrest of the elected representatives that control his power.
Trump has promised to exploit the federal government’s power to target his enemies. In addition to Comey, the Ministry of Justice is investigating several other high -profile critics. Everyone has denied injustice and Comey is expected to admit that he is not guilty of lies in Congress.
Meanwhile, a federal judge has ruled that Ice had violated a 2022 agreement that limits the body’s ability in various Midwestern states to arrest immigrants without warrants, in a view that could limit some of the aggressive tactics adopted by Ice since it returned.
US regional judge Jeffrey Cummings said the organization had incorrectly stated that the deal was annulled and expanded until February.
Troops in Chicago
Hundreds of Texas National Guard soldiers have gathered in a military facility outside Chicago, over the objections of Pritzker, Johnson and other democratic leaders in the state. Trump threatened to develop troops in more US cities, which it said last week that it could serve as a “educational space” for the Armed Forces.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday found that most Americans are opposed to developing troops without an external threat.
Trump ordered the guard troops in Chicago and Portland, Oregon, after his previous deployments in Los Angeles and Washington, DC. In any case, he defied a steady opposition to democratic mayors and rulers, who say Trump’s claims of lawlessness and violence do not reflect reality. He has also said that he will send troops to Memphis.
“My goal is very simple. Stop crime in America!” He wrote on the social media platform.
The violent crime has fallen into many US cities by the spike of the Kovidi era, and the troops of the National Guard have so far been largely used to protect federal facilities, not to combat road crime.
Protests on Trump’s immigration policies in Chicago and Portland were largely peaceful and limited in size, according to local officials, far from the circumstances described by Trump’s administration officials.
In a Broadview immigration installation, Illinois, outside Chicago, four protesters held signs and chanting slogans on Wednesday in front of a wall of highly armed officers. The administration said the troops of the National Guard could be sent to guard the facility, but no one had arrived early in the afternoon.
Pritzker accused Trump of trying to boost violence to justify further militarization and his state had sued growth. A federal judge on Monday allowed development to proceed for the time being. Another federal judge has prevented the development in Portland.
Trump threatened to rely on a law on the fight against regression to bypass any court orders that block him, which he relies on during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
