Karachi: A significant number of children in the karachi remained incompatible during the city’s polio elimination campaign as thousands of parents refused to manage the vaccine to their children, sources revealed.
According to data provided by sources at the National Emergency Business Center (EOC), at least 92,628 parents transferred the falls of polio for their children.
In addition, 197,461 children from vaccination groups could not be approached due to various logistical support challenges.
The campaign initially set a vaccination target of 2,194,900 children, but the groups managed to manage polio to 1,918,966 children during the weekly effort.
Children’s vaccination is vital as in 2024, the total number of polio cases was 73.
In order to tackle the resurgence, the Pakistani Politics Elimination Program, in collaboration with the extensive immunization program (EPI), continues to carry out national mass vaccination campaigns.
The health authorities have called on parents to ensure that all children under five will receive the vaccine during the campaign.
It is important to note that Pakistan is one of the two political countries around the world, along with Afghanistan and the number of cases had declined significantly in the country each year until the recent rise in cases.
Pakistan’s polio elimination program explains that polio is a “paralytic” disease with “no cure” and “completing the usual vaccination for all children under five years” simply provides them with “high immunity against this terrible disease”.
